University of Miami football coach Mark Richt is among those sending messages of congratulations to Chipper Jones on his Hall of Fame induction.

In a message posted Wednesday by Fox Sports South, Richt congratulated Jones on his accomplishment and shared a story about when the former Georgia coach threw the first pitch at an Atlanta Braves game to Jones behind home plate.

“I do want to remind you of something that might have helped you get in (the Hall of Fame,” Richt said. “I threw out the first pitch... I threw it way too high, you jumped out of your shoes, almost pulled a hamstring and caught it and saved face for me. Thank you Chipper on a personal note as well”.
