The College Football Playoff selection committee released its first top 25 rankings on Tuesday. The top four teams in the final rankings will play in the national semifinal on New Year’s day with the winners advancing to the national championship game. The top four teams in the initial rankings are, in order, Mississippi State, Florida State, Auburn and Ole Miss.

Not surprisingly, the reaction on Twitter to the rankings included lots of criticism (most of it directed at three SEC teams being ranked in the top four), a few conspiracy theories (most of it regarding ESPN's cozy business relationship with the SEC) and a bit of rational analysis (mostly reminders that the rankings will change going forward).
