This is one name that should never be misspelled on a Syracuse University basketball jersey.
Boeheim.
Jim Boeheim is in his 43rd season as coach of the Orange. With more than 1,029 victories -- along with five Final Four appearances, and a national title in 2003 -- Boeheim has earned legendary status.
But when Boeheim's son Buddy played in the 2K Classic at Madison Square Garden against the University of Connecticut on Thursday, the freshman wore a jersey that spelled his last name "Boheim," the Syracuse Post-Standard reported.
The Orange were red-faced.
The younger Boeheim, at 6-feet, 5 inches, scored a point and had an assist in Syracuse’s 86-73 loss to the Huskies.
With his name properly spelled during Friday’s game against Oregon, Buddy Boeheim did better, scoring three points. But it was not enough, as the Orange (2-2) lost 80-65, spoiling Jim Boeheim’s 74th birthday, which is Saturday.
