Jerick McKinnon ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to help Georgia Southern defeat visiting Western Carolina 35-19 on Saturday.

The Eagles (5-4, 3-4 Southern Conference), who won for the first time since Oct. 12, rushed for 345 yards and four touchdowns.

McKinnon (Sprayberry), who rushed for 68 yards, scored on runs of 36 and 23 yards and threw a 19-yard pass to Da’Quan Heard (Washington-Wilkes).

William Banks (Augusta Christian) led the Eagles with 86 yards rushing, and Kevin Ellison (Habersham Central) added 83 yards and a score.

Mercer 45, Jacksonville 42: John Russ threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Mercer edged visiting Jacksonville for its fifth consecutive victory.

Russ (Mill Creek) threw for 217 yards and rushed 17 times for 145 yards for the Bears (9-1, 5-1 Pioneer Football League), who are 7-0 at home.

Jacksonville (4-6, 3-4) led 35-24 with 9:21 left in the third, but Mercer scored three consecutive touchdowns for a 45-35 advantage with 6:17 remaining in the game.

The Bears had 486 yards of offense, three sacks and forced three turnovers.

Howard 42, Savannah State 14: Greg McGhee ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more to send visiting Savannah State to its eighth consecutive loss.

McGhee threw for 326 yards and added 148 yards rushing, with scoring runs of 53 and 27 yards for Howard (4-6, 3-4 MEAC).

Leon Prunty (Stockbridge) threw for 152 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown pass to Simon Heyward (Beach) for the Tigers (1-10, 0-7).

Albany State 19, Fort Valley State 10: Frank Rivers threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns as Albany State won the SIAC East title with a win in the Fountain City Classic in Columbus.

The Golden Rams (5-4, 4-0), who have won four consecutive games, will play Miles in the SIAC Championship game at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Lakewood Stadium.

Fort Valley State (4-6, 3-1) held Albany State to 14 yards rushing, but Rivers led the Golden Rams to three second-half scores.

Clark Atlanta 35, Edward Waters 28: Bradley Battles rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns as the host Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak.

Montavious Taylor (Carver-Atlanta) led Clark Atlanta (3-6) with 87 yards rushing. The Panthers intercepted five passes.

Kentucky State 44, Morehouse 0: Adam Robinson threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns to send visiting Morehouse to its sixth consecutive loss.

Lance McGuffie (Our Lady of Mercy) led the Maroon Tigers, who ended their season at 2-8, 0-5 in the SIAC, with 83 yards rushing.
