Georgia Tech scored 10 runs in the third inning and needed just five innings to beat Kennesaw State 17-3 on Wednesday in Kennesaw.

Hope Rush hit her 11th home run of the season and earned the victory, giving up three runs on five hits in three innings.

The Yellow Jackets (15-17) had 14 hits, five for extra bases, in their seventh double-digit scoring game of the season. Every Jackets starter scored at least one run.

Sara Sikes and Sharon Swanson each drove in a run for the Owls (23-7) in the bottom of the third inning, but Georgia Tech answered with seven more runs in the top of the fourth to seal the victory.

No. 22 Georgia 6, Georgia Southern 3: Kaylee Puailoa went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs for the Bulldogs (26-7) in Athens. Tabby Douberley hit a three-run homer for the Eagles (15-18) in the sixth inning.

Georgia State 3, UT Chattanooga 1: The Panthers (20-9) scored two runs in the top of the first inning and held on for their fifth straight victory with the win in Chattanooga, Tenn. Kaitlyn Medlam (10-3) held the Mocs (18-16) to one run on four hits and one walk.

Baseball

Georgia State 14, Alabama State 1: Chad Prain hit three doubles and a triple to lead the Panthers (16-10) in Atlanta, pushing his hitting streak to 14 games. Georgia State starter Nick Squeglia earned his 14th career win, giving up one run on three hits in eight innings against the Hornets (15-12).

Tennis

Georgia Tech women 4, Northwestern 3: Freshman Megan Kurey rallied to win at No. 4 singles to lead the Yellow Jackets (7-6) past visiting Northwestern (8-7).

Golf

Georgia’s Kailey Walsh was named the SEC freshman of the week. She finished fifth at the LSU Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La., and was the only freshman in the top 10. Walsh, from Boca Raton, Fla., is the younger sister of former Georgia All-America placekicker Blair Walsh.
