Texas A&M defensive lineman Zaycoven Henderson was charged with several felonies early Sunday after being arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at people.
The 23-year-old from Longview, Texas allegedly pointed a rifle at people and threatened two others around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning at the Campus Village Apartments and was then arrested by the College Station Police Department, according to a release issued by CSPD.
Henderson was charged with the second-degree felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony of tampering with evidence and marijuana possession of less than two ounces, according to Sports Day.
Henderson allegedly left the scene. When police stopped the vehicle Henderson was in after the incident, Henderson allegedly threw the weapon out of the passenger’s seat.
Henderson was booked into the Brazos County Jail after 9 a.m. Sunday and is expected to be held until at least Monday when he will have bond set on the felony charges, according to a Brazos County Sheriff's Office and Sports Day.
Henderson was immediately suspended, according to a Texas A&M spokesperson.
In four seasons at Texas A&M, Henderson played in 45 games and started 11 of 12 games during his senior season. The defensive lineman recorded 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks this season.
