The Toronto Raptors are planning to hire assistant coach Nick Nurse as the team’s new head coach, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday.

Nurse, 50, joined the Raptors staff in 2013 as an assistant after coaching 12 seasons in Europe.

Wojnarowksi reported contract negotiations between Nurse and the Raptors are ongoing.

Nurse will be replacing Dwane Casey who was fired by the Raptors after seven seasons in May after leading the team to five-straight playoff appearances and the best record in the Eastern Conference last season.
