A professional surfer was injured while surfing at an event Thursday near the San Francisco bay area.
KTVU reported that Garrett McNamara dislocated a shoulder when he fell off his board and disappeared into a large wave.
McNamara was competing at Titans of Mavericks, a professional surfing competition. He is expected to recover.
