Atlanta’s new lacrosse team, the Blaze, traded for Marietta native Scott Ratliff Friday.
The Blaze acquired defenseman Ratliff and two draft picks from the Boston Cannons and sent defenseman Brodie Merrill, midfielder Mike Pellegrino, midfielder Justin Turri and a draft pick to the Cannons.
Ratliff scored a career-high eight goals in 2015. He attended Walton High School and Loyola University.
The Blaze also selected Duke’s Myles Jones with the first pick in the Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft.
Jones, a 6-foot-5, 240 pound senior midfielder, won the Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Award, which goes to the nation’s top midfielder.
Jones led the Blue Devils in scoring with 77 points (40 goals and 37 assists).
The Atlanta Blaze will began play in April. Home games will be played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the campus of Kennesaw State University in Cobb County.
