After suffering a season-ending knee injury on Friday, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman spoke out on Twitter.

Edelman suffered a knee injury which was confirmed to be a complete ACL tear during the opening minutes of the Patriots' exhibition game against the Detroit Lions.

"This has been an extremely trying week. That being said, the amount of support I have received since Friday night is truly humbling," Edelman wrote. "I will approach this rehab process the only way I know how, with everything I have, to make sure i come back stronger than ever."

While running with the ball on Friday night against the Lions, Edelman tripped and fell to the ground within the first three minutes of the game.

Edelman recorded three receptions for 53 yards before going down.

The Patriots went on to win the game 30-28.
