The Chick-fil-A Bowl officially announced on Tuesday Louisville and Ole Miss will face off in the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

In August, it was previously reported that the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game would be between the Rebels and Cardinals, but not confirmed until Tuesday.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming both Louisville and Ole Miss back to Atlanta in what will be another exciting ACC vs. SEC showdown in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game,” Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and president Gary Stokan said in a statement. “An electric, sold-out crowd with these two historically passionate fan bases in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be the perfect setting for the first-ever game between these two storied programs.”

If Ole Miss and Louisville don’t meet up in a bowl game or the College Football Playoff over the next four seasons, the 2021 matchup will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

The date, kick time and television network will be announced at a later date.

Ole Miss has played in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game once in 2014 where it defeated Boise State, 35-21.

The next season, Louisville made its only Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game appearance when the Cardinals lost to Auburn, 31-24.
