High-flying stunt bike show part of MotoGP entertainment
Watching from the ground, turning a full flip during a jump on a motocross bike might seem difficult, but Austinite Dustin Miller said it’s not.
“Most people think a flip is the craziest thing we do, but it’s pretty easy once you know how to do it,” Miller said. “It’s just scary. I get a little nervous every time.”
Miller, 32, a full-time freestyle motocross rider, was turning flips and other stunts as part of the E3 MotoX Jumping Show on the grand plaza of Circuit of the Americas on Saturday. The show, in which two riders jump a distance of 75 feet, is part of the entertainment off the track during this weekend’s MotoGP race.
At least one of Saturday’s shows was cut short because of wind, which Miller said at times was blowing unpredictably.
“It wouldn’t be as bad if it was straight at your back or straight at your front here, but it’s coming from the side,” Miller said.
The E3 MotoX Jumping Show has four scheduled performances Sunday, mostly in the morning.
