Michael Vick will be one of five former Hokies to be inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame this fall, Virginia Tech announced on Tuesday.

Vick, who quarterbacked the Hokies from 1998-2001, will be inducted alongside former All-American linebacker Ben Taylor, baseball player Tim Buheller, basketball point guard Zabian Dowdell and softball catcher Megan Evans.

Before he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft, Vick made a name for himself when he led the Hokies to the 2000 National Championship game against Florida State.

Vick threw for 3,299 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushed for 1,299 yards and 17 touchdowns in his Virginia Tech career.

The five honorees will be inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 22 and then introduced at halftime during the Virginia Tech-Old Dominion football game on Sept. 23.

After publicly saying he would like to retire as a Falcon in late-May, the Atlanta Falcons held a retirement ceremony for Vick and former wide receiver Roddy White in June.
