In its first Big South Conference home game, Kennesaw State will play Gardner-Webb on Oct. 17, 2015. The conference released the home-and-away partners for its schools Tuesday for that season.

Kennesaw State also will play Monmouth on Oct. 31 and Charleston Southern on Nov. 7, both at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The Owls will travel to Liberty on Oct. 24, Coastal Carolina on Nov. 14 and Presbyterian on Nov. 21.

Kennesaw State will open the 2015 season on Sept. 3 at East Tennessee State.

“We knew we were in the Big South, knew we would have a six-game conference schedule,” coach Brian Bohannon said. “It’s exciting to have dates and (know) who we are playing at home and away.

“It’s a great league, and we are excited to be a part of it and excited to have more pieces of the puzzle together.”

Bohannon called from the road, where he is recruiting.

The Owls have 18 commitments. NCAA rules prohibit Bohannon from talking about the players until they sign. He said that he and his staff are competing for recruits with schools that “you wouldn’t think a start-up program would be going against.”

Bohannon also is trying to fill the rest of his coaching staff. Five positions are open, and he said he hopes to have hires made by Feb. 5, which is signing day.

The Owls’ remaining nonconference games haven’t been announced.
