John Isner held off Kennesaw’s Robby Ginepri 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 late Thursday night to advance to the quarterfinals of the BB&T Atlanta Open.

Isner, the tournament’s defending champ and top seed, will play Marinko Matosevic no sooner than 4 p.m. today.

Isner, a former standout at Georgia, fought off two match points before using four consecutive aces to defeat Ginepri at Atlantic Station.
