Atlanta United fullback Mikey Ambrose will miss at least three weeks after suffering a slight tear of the meniscus in his right knee on Friday.

Ambrose also suffered a tear to the meniscus in his right knee last year, forcing him to miss the 2018 season’s final five months. The knee will be “cleaned out,” which is why his return to action is expected to be much shorter than it was last year.

Ambrose, 25, has two starts in league play as part of four appearances across all competitions this season.

Atlanta United has depth at left fullback because George Bello (groin) resumed training in some capacity  with the first team on Monday, but didn’t train with the group on Tuesday. Also re-joining training on Monday were defender Franco Escobar (adductor) and centerback Florentin Pogba.

Pity Martinez (hamstring) also re-joined the first team Tuesday. He sustained his injury while on international break with Argentina. He missed the game at Columbus because of the injury.

Atlanta United (0-2-2) will play Saturday at New England.
