-- It will be the second game of a back-to-back for the Thrashers, who played at the Rangers on Thursday. The Hurricanes defeated the Red Wings 3-0 on Wednesday and are 7-1-1 in their past nine games as they try to grab one of the final two playoffs spots in the Eastern Conference.

-- Dustin Byfuglien continues to lead NHL defensemen in goals with 20 entering Thursday’s game. He also owns the franchise record for points by a defenseman with 53.

-- Andrew Ladd played his 400th career NHL game Thursday.

-- Hurricanes rookie Jeff Skinner scored his 30th goal Wednesday.
