Aquinas' coaches and players thought they'd clinched a playoff berth last week with their 28-12 victory over Washington-Wilkes. It turns out they didn't understand the tiebreaker.

Warren County, Washington-Wilkes and Aquinas ended up tied for third place in Region 7-A. The tiebreaker is overall record against Class A schools, but Aquinas' victories over Glascock County and Georgia Military College didn't count because those schools are not playing region schedules.

"Now I know what it feels like when the BCS doesn't always take the best teams," Aquinas coach Matt LeZotte told Matt Middleton of the Augusta Chronicle. "That's exactly how I feel right now."
