Tiger Woods has some time on his hands since undergoing surgery March 31 for a pinched nerve.

The world's top golfer wrote on his website that while, he is hitting a few putts and chipping, he won't be ready to return to full play until late summer.

Surgery forced Tiger to miss his first Masters Tournament since turning pro.

The three things we learn from reading his blog are:

He didn't really miss Augusta National.

"Not being able to play in the Masters for the first time wasn't as hard for me as you might think. I've missed major championships before, so this was not a new experience. It helps when I'm physically unable to play the game. That's when it's easy for me, and I don't have a problem watching."

Tiger likes Fred Couples.

"I actually watched quite a bit of it because Freddie [Couples] was in contention. As soon as his name went up on the leaderboard, I started watching what he was doing. Once he got off to that bad start Sunday, it wasn't as much fun."

Good for Bubba and that other left-hander.

"I was happy for Bubba Watson and want to congratulate him on winning his second green jacket. The golf course sets up great for a long fader who is left-handed. ... I think that's one of the reasons Phil [Mickelson] and Bubba have done so well there is because they both fade the ball really well for lefties."

And if you're concerned about how he is spending his time off the golf course, it's occupied by girlfriend Lindey Vonn (with whom he's rehabiliting) and his kids (with whom he vacationed in Bahamas).
