Those attending the first round of the Masters on Thursday will receive a commemorative badge designed to honor Arnold Palmer, according to Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne.
Palmer, a four-time Masters champ, died in September last year at the age of 87 years old.
The button is white with “I am a member of Arnie’s Army” written in green.
Payne also said on Wednesday during this state of the Masters speech that there will be a “significant contribution” made to the Arnold Palmer Charitable Foundation.
“ … tomorrow morning, for the Honorary Starter’s Ceremony, we will once again proudly summon Arnie’s Army and provide every one of our Patrons on the ground a special commemorative badge that I am wearing today,” he said.
“So I think tomorrow will no doubt be an emotional good‑bye, but at the same time, an even more powerful thank you to the man we dearly love.”
Palmer was Masters champion in 1958, ’60, ’62 and ’64. His wins at the Masters were widely credited with helping to popularize golf.
He serves as an honorary starter at the Masters, beginning in 2007.
He was previously honored with a plaque on April 4, 1995 that is affixed to a water fountain behind the 16th tee.
