The Judson Collegiate and Legends Pro-Am Challenge golf event is undergoing a format change this year.

The tournament, held at Country Club of Roswell June 25-29, will separate into two events this year.

A pro-am, featuring a mix of LPGA legends such as tournament host Rosie Jones, college players and amateurs will be held June 25-26.

The college players, expected to be a field of 60, will then compete in a 54-hole stroke-play tournament on June 27-29.

In previous years, the college players would compete alongside the LPGA Legends in a tournament within a tournament.

The change was made to give the college players more time to interact and be mentored by the LPGA Legends in a more-relaxed setting

“It gives us time to talk to the players about strategy, shots and how to play certain holes,” Jones said.

It’s not all about golf. The mentoring will be a mix of course management and life management.

Jones said the Legends will show the college players how to interact with sponsors, some of whom will be represented as the amateurs in the event’s first two day.

“Later in the life, when they are in the business world, it may help them leverage their time with peers, sponsors, bosses and clients using golf as a tool that way,” Jones said.
