Maybe Chris Bosh should have spoken sooner.

After the Miami Heat's recent five-game losing streak, Bosh sounded off about his lack of significant touches, especially down low where he thrives.

Bosh, a former player at Georgia Tech, ended his lecture with this: “Then I feel I can start helping out this team more."

Apparently, he was correct.

The Heat won the ensuing three games, with Bosh getting 24 points -- 9-for-17 from the floor -- and nine rebounds in a 94-88 victory against the Lakers, 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 118-85 thrashing of the Grizzlies and a monster game of 30 points and 12 rebounds in a 110-80 demolition of the top team in the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs, on Monday.

The week that was

-- In the four games Philadelphia played in the past week (through Thursday), guard Jodie Meeks (Norcross High) has averaged 14.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. Guard Louis Williams (South Gwinnett High) averaged 17 points and forward Thaddeus Young (Georgia Tech) 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds. The Sixers stumbled against Milwaukee on Saturday (a 102-74 loss) and Utah on Monday (112-107 loss), but still appear to be a good bet to play in the postseason.

-- Hornets guard Jarrett Jack (Georgia Tech) started in place of injured Chris Paul on March 9 and scored 21 points to go with six rebounds and seven assists in a 93-92 victory against the Mavericks. He had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists in the fourth quarter. He scored zero points on 0-for-5 shooting when Paul (33 points, 15 assists) returned in a 115-103 win over Sacramento on Saturday. In Monday's 114-103 loss to the Nuggets, Jack had nine points.

-- Clippers rookie forward Al-Farouq Aminu (Norcross High) averaged 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in four games (2-2) in the past week, including a 108-103 victory at Boston on March 9. He scored 10 points on 3-for-5 shooting with four rebounds and two steals in a 122-101 win at Washington. He followed the victory, however, with three points on 1-for-7 shooting in a 105-82 drubbing at the hand of host Memphis on Monday.

-- In the Bobcats' three games in the past week, including two victories, Kwame Brown (Glynn Academy) averaged 7.3 points and 7.3 rebounds, but shot 41 percent as his minutes sank from 34 to 23 to 18.

-- Because of coach John Kuester's personnel maneuvers, Pistons guard Will Bynum (Georgia Tech) did not play in two games -- a 111-104 loss to the Spurs on March 9 and a 104-94 loss to the Thunder on March 11. Kuester installed Tracy McGrady at point guard, bumping Bynum from backup to the bench. He scored eight points with 10 assists in a drubbing at the hands of the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

-- In his first start since being traded from the New Jersey to Utah, rookie forward Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech) scored 11 points to go with six rebounds and two steals in a 112-107 victory against the 76ers on Monday. He averaged eight points and 5.3 rebounds in four games (2-2). Favors is shooting 51.9 percent from the field this season.

-- It was a slow week for the Cavaliers' J.J. Hickson (Wheeler High). He played in only two games, both 20-point losses. He averaged six points (6-for-20 shooting), but averaged 11.5 rebounds.

-- On Monday at Los Angeles, Dwight Howard (Southwest Atlanta Christian) scored 22 points to go with 15 rebounds in the Magic's 97-84 loss to the Lakers, in which Kobe Bryant was hampered by a sprained ankle (he scored 16 points). Howard committed nine turnovers in the game. In four games in the past week, Howard averaged 19.3 points and 16.5 rebounds. The Magic are fourth in the East.

-- The Nets' Anthony Morrow (Georgia Tech) has played a key role in New Jersey's five consecutive victories. In the three wins in the past week, Morrow averaged 15.3 points and 3.3 rebounds. He scored 22 in a 94-90 victory against Golden State on March 9 and 15 in an 88-79 win over Boston on Monday.

-- Suns backup center Garret Siler (Augusta State) played a total of six minutes in two games this past week, scoring three points with four rebounds.

-- Warriors forward Al Thornton (Perry High) played four games last week (2-2) with a high of 23 points in 22 minutes -- including 15 fourth-quarter points -- Monday in a 129-119 loss to the Kings. He failed to score in eight minutes of a 123-120 victory over Orlando on Friday. In four games, he averaged 8.3 points.
