Georgia Tech and No. 21 North Carolina will battle it out at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night. This will be the Yellow Jackets’ first game at a neutral site under coach Geoff Collins.

It also presents a huge opportunity for Collins to get his first win against a ranked team in his coaching tenure at Tech.

Being able to play on a big stage is something Collins is not taking for granted.

“One of the cool things about playing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is that every single guy that’s in this program will get to play in that stadium once every year,” Collins said.

While it is a neutral site, it may not be as neutral as you think. The stadium is located less than a mile from Bobby Dodd Stadium.

After a 14-8 loss at Clemson on Saturday, the Jackets proved they can compete against highly regarded teams. Although it was a tough loss, Collins knows the team is close to its first win against a ranked program.

“I think our guys learned to play the game the right way,” Collins said about his team’s performance against the Tigers. “Compete every single play. We must repeat it weekly. That’s what big-time programs do. Now we must finish these because we’re doing the right things. It’s a great challenge and great team; we just have to be ready to go.”
