Led by Michael Devoe’s 23 points, Georgia Tech defeated Morehouse 89-52 in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion.
The Yellow Jackets forced 15 turnovers in the first half, turning them into 22 points, on their way to a 45-25 halftime lead. Tech finished with 32 points off turnovers.
Devoe was one of four Jackets player to reach double figures in scoring. Jordan Usher scored 16 and freshman Dallan “Deebo” Coleman and sophomore Deivon Smith, a transfer from Mississippi State, each scored 10. Smith also contributed eight assists.
Overall, Tech shot 49.2% (31-of-63) from the field, and Morehouse, on the other hand, shot 28.1% (16-of-57).
Tavares Oliver led the Maroon Tigers in scoring with 16 points, the only player to reach double figures.
Tech begins the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at home against Miami (Ohio). Next up for Morehouse is an exhibition game at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens against Georgia at 7 p.m. Friday.
