THREE STORYLINES
Can Georgia Tech clean up its act? Starting with the second game of the season, the Yellow Jackets have had at least one turnover and at least one fumble in every game. Tech took needless penalties against Clemson, continuing a pattern. Plenty else can be sharper, too.
How do the backups do? If the game proceeds as expected — the Jackets are favored by 51 1/2 points — that could mean rest for the starters and playing time for second- and third-stringers. That would include No. 2 quarterback Justin Thomas.
Can the Jackets stay healthy? With one week to go before the showdown with Georgia, Tech can't afford injuries, particularly along the offensive line. If Johnson could somehow convince safety Jemea Thomas to take the field in one of those inflatable sumo outfits, he probably would consider it.
MATCHUP OF THE WEEK
Tech OT Ray Beno vs. his foot. Beno, a third-year starter, returned in the Clemson game from a four-game absence because of a foot injury. Particularly with offensive tackle Chase Roberts out with a concussion, the Jackets would love to see Beno quickly regain his game form.
