Oklahoma’s offense did anything it want to against Georgia’s defense in the first half of Monday’s Rose Bowl. The Sooners took a 31-17 lead into the locker room having amassed 360 yards of offense.

Oklahoma’s final drive of the opening half end like many of its previous drives, with the Sooners celebrating in the end zone. With six second to go before halftime, the Sooners got trickery to go ahead 31-14.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield pitched the football to running back Dimitri Flowers on a toss sweep. Mayfield then rolled out to his right for a passing route. Flowers then pitched the football back to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb attracted the attention of cornerback Deandre Baker and linebacker Roquan Smith, leaving Mayfield wide-open in the corner of the end zone.

Lamb tossed the football over the two defenders to Mayfield for the 2-yard score.

The Sooners got contributions from everyone on their scoring drive, which began at their 10-yard line. Trey Sermon opened the drive with a 31-yard run out to the Oklahoma 41.

Then on third-and-9, Mayfield hit Marquise Brown on a short crossing route. The speedster took it 45 yards down to the Georgia 13.

The Bulldogs were beneficiaries of a botched squib-kick on the ensuing kickoff. After a quick 9-yard reception by Terry Godwin, Rodrigo Blankenship hit a career-long and Rose Bowl record 55-yard field goal to cut the halftime deficit to just two scores.
