It’s not a doomsday scenario for the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles, but it could turn into one soon.

The starting quarterback and reigning Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year,  Francois had to leave the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game with a leg injury late in the fourth quarter after he was sacked from behind by Alabama defensive back Ronnie Harrison.

Francois went down clutching his knee and remained on the ground for several minutes until he was helped of the field by two athletic trainers. It was apparent Francois couldn’t put any weight on his left leg.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said after the game at the new Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta that he didn’t know any details about Francois’ injury.

“I don't know ...,” Fisher said. “I've learned to wait until they see. Unfortunately he's hurt, though.

“Oh, I'm definitely concerned because that's your starting quarterback and the kind of player he is and what he has,” Fisher said. “But we'll get the guys (on the depth chart) behind him and we'll rep those guys and play and we'll go on. Again, we have great people around him and do the things we've got to do.”

Francois was 19 of 33 for 210 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Seminoles lost 24-7 after being competitive for the first half.
