Former Milton basketball star Dai-Jon Parker drowned Thursday following a tubing accident in Indiana.

The 22-year-old Dai-Jon Parker, played three season at Vanderbilt before transferring to the University of Indianapolis last season.

Investigators say Parker and another man were on an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat on a lake near Bloomington, Ind., when a large wave hit the tube and knocked the two men off and in to the water.

One man survived the incident, but Parker, who was reportedly not wearing a life vest, was pulled underwater and did not resurface. Police said Parker was not a strong swimmer.

Parker was part of the 2009-10 boys basketball team that won the Class AAAAA state championship at Alpharetta's Milton High School.

Parker's coach at Milton, David Boyd, posted on Twitter: "This is a sad and tragic day for the Milton basketball family: Dai Jon Parker has passed away today in a tragic accident. God rest his soul.

"We are extremely saddened with the news of Dai-Jon’s death,” Stallings said in the release. "Everyone who watched him play basketball knew what kind of athlete he was. But, to those of us who knew him and loved him, he was as good and happy of a person as you would ever meet.

"He always had a smile on his face and I will always remember him for that smile and the positive spirit he had."
