FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, the franchise's all-time leading receiver, hasn't caught a pass over the past two games after making at least one catch in 130 straight games that he played in.
“I’m fine,” White said when asked about his plight. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan addressed the situation.
“Obviously, you want everybody at the wide receiver position to end up with like 10 catches and 150 yards,” Ryan said on Wednesday. “It’s just not the way it shakes out every week.”
White has contributed in other ways. He did catch a pass for 17 yards against the Cowboys, but it was nullified by a penalty.
“Roddy has done an awesome job for us all year,” Ryan said. “From a competitive standpoint, there is no one who competes harder play-in and play-out. There is nobody who blocks harder in the run game.”
While White’s cup had dried up, wide receiver Julio Jones’ cup has been full. Wide receiver Leonard Hankerson has also been getting some action.
“He’s going to be a big part of what we do all year,” Ryan said. “There is no doubt about it. As teams try and defend Julio differently, it’s going to open up different things for guys. He’s going to have a great year.”
