The Falcons’ major offseason project was to fix a leaky offensive line that gave up 42 sacks and 108 quarterback hits in 2018.

When they lined up in the open OTA workout Thursday, the two rookie first-round picks were with the second-team offense.

Left tackle Jake Matthews, left guard James Carpenter, center Alex Mack, right guard Jamon Brown and right tackle Ty Sambrailo took the field with quarterback Matt Ryan.

The second-string line, Matt Schaub’s group, included left tackle Matt Gono, left guard Adam Gettis, center Wes Schweitzer, right guard Chris Lindstorm and right tackle Kaleb McGary.

Lindstrom was the 14th player selected in the NFL draft. McGary was the 31st pick.

Near the end of practice, McGary received some snaps with the first-unit.

“You always mix the guys through,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “I think it’s important for guys not to know when they are going with that group. We’ll do it with the next person another day. It’s a chance to evaluate as a coach. Put him in with the first group.”
