Falcons’ coach Dan Quinn passed along his thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of NFL special teams coordinator Bruce DeHaven after his passing on Tuesday evening.
DeHaven, who Quinn called a good friend, passed away at 68 years old on Tuesday after a battle with cancer.
“I can remember my very first day of coaching in the NFL, Bruce was the one who clipped out a small (clipping) in USA Today where it had ‘Defensive quality control coach Dan Quinn’,” Quinn said. “Not very often a guy gets his name in USA Today and I will always remember that story. It kind of tells you about where his heart was and where he stood as a guy. Definitely thinking of him and his family today.”
DeHaven coached Quinn at the San Francisco 49ers in 2001 and 2002 and again with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009. DeHaven served as special teams coordinator from 2013 through this season.
