Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is excused from today’s practice for personal reasons.

Quinn said he hasn’t spoken with White since he told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he was bothered by his lack of chances in the offense. White later walked back those comments in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, insisting that his diminished role is “nothing to get mad over” and that he’s focused on winning.

Quinn said the Falcons wouldn’t focus on getting White more chances.

“I wouldn’t say a point of emphasis, no,” Quinn said. “We’ve got great respect for Roddy and all the unique things that he brings to our team. But we don’t generally don’t go into this and that to make it happen. He’s somebody that we think the world of. The options will be there, although they weren’t in some of the (previous) games, we think they will be moving forward.”

In four games White has six catches on 13 targets for 91 yards. White had four receptions for 84 yards in the season-opener but had no catches on one target in Week 2 against the Giants, breaking his streak of 130 games with a reception. White had no targets or catches against the Cowboys (though he had a 17-yard catch nullified by a penalty) and two catches for eight yards against the Texans.

White is the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions, yards and touchdowns. Quinn said he would speak with White when he returns from out of town but didn’t anticipate having any problems with him.

“We’ve got a really good relationship,” Quinn said. “Easy conversation.”
