SAN FRANCISCO – The Falcons continued to restructure their scouting operation by moving two pro scouts over to the college scouting department.
Dejuan Polk, formerly the pro personnel coordinator, and Bob Kronenberg, formerly a pro scout, are moving over to the college scouting department.
“We’re bringing over our two guys from the pro department, Dejuan and Bob Kronenberg are going to be really good for our college scouting staff,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said.
Polk has been with the Falcons for 10 seasons.
Prior to serving as pro personnel coordinator, he spent four seasons as a pro scout and was responsible for scouting all professional leagues; including 15 NFL teams as well as advance scouting.
Polk served as a college scout for the Falcons during the 2008 season, covering the midwest region and conferences.
Polk started his tenure with the organization in 2006 as pro personnel assistant and helped the personnel department coordinating free agent workouts, maintaining the “short-list” and advance scouting of future opponents.
He coached at South Carolina State and was a four-year letterman at Clemson as a defensive tackle from 1999-2003.
Kronenberg recently completed his fifth season as a pro scout. He was responsible for providing the coaching staff with advance scouting reports for upcoming opponents, evaluating players in each year’s free agency market, and maintaining the daily waiver wire.
He previously served as an area scout for four seasons with the responsibility of evaluating college prospects.
Prior to joining the Falcons, Kronenberg spent seven seasons in the Arena Football League with the Georgia Force as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator (2003-08).
Lionel Vital, the former director of pro personnel, elected not to take a demotion and left the team.
The Falcons added former general managers Ruston Webster and Phil Emery as national scouts to help them bolster the pro personnel side because the team only has five draft picks in the upcoming draft.
The Falcons lost their fifth pick in the noise gate scandal and traded the sixth round pick to the Tennessee Titans in the Andy Levitre trade.
“We have to make sure that we continue to tap into the knowledge of some of the guys who have been around this for a long time,” Dimitroff said. “Both of our new guys that we’ve add have many, many years.”
