Falcons coach Mike Smith said he expects wide receiver Roddy White (ankle) to play against Green Bay on Monday after he sat out Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
White was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report and then was scratched before the Cardinals game.
“He was close to playing,” Smith said. “He worked with the athletic performance guys during the week. But we felt in was in his best interests long term to not play in the game this past week. We anticipate with the extra day he will be ready to go this week. Roddy is a guy that doesn’t want to miss. It was tough on him when we made the decision to sit him down.”
White, 33, never missed a game during his first eight NFL seasons before sitting out three in 2013 and two this year. Last season White was ineffective while playing with high ankle sprain suffered during an exhibition game and later said he should have sat out games.
Smith said Smith’s latest ankle injury “is not nearly the severity” of the one he suffered in 2013.
