Since he was selected in the fourth round the 2010 draft, Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters has been a steady contributor.
Peters, who has started 53 of 62 games in his career, bounced back after rupturing his Achilles in the 15th game of last season. He’s been used in a reserve role on the defensive line in 2014.
We talked to Peters about his the trip to London, facing the Lions, the European cuisine and his trip to visit Buckingham Palace. (edited for clarity and space).
Q: How’s it going in London?
A: It's been rough on me with the time difference. I'm not going to lie. It's been hard for me to get the sleep pattern right. But it's been fun.
Q: What did you do on the off day?
A: We went down and did all of the touristy stuff like visit Buckingham Palace. It was a good time. My wife is here, so we got to spend some time together, and it's been good.
Q: What have you been doing food wise?
A: I've been primarily eating at the Grove. The food is a little different. It seems like it's more organic or something. I don't know if I'm a big fan of that.
Q: Have you been to Europe before?
A: No, this is my very first time.
Q: How’s everybody doing as the team is trying to rebound?
A: Everything is going well. Everybody still has a good attitude, and we're pushing forward. Practice was pretty good yesterday. It's a lot different with circumstances of everything with the logistics and all of that. We are just trying to get as close to our routine as possible.
Q: What’s your assessment of Detroit running backs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell?
A: They've got a couple of different styles, and we have to be prepared based off who's in the game. When Bush is in the game, we know what he can do. He's a very explosive player. He's a very shifty kind of back. We just have to be prepared and pay attention to the personnel groupings.
Q: What’s your impression of the culture here in London?
A: I really enjoy it. The people here seem to be a lot nicer than Americans. Strangers are so nice. If you go up to people and talk to them, they are friendlier. It's not like 'leave me alone.' It's been good, and we've had a chance to experience some things and meet some people.
Q: Antone Smith has been eating pizza, what’s been your go-to meal?
A: I'm not a huge fan of the food, but I've just been sticking with the French fries. That's what I have been rolling with.
Q: What are your thoughts on playing in Wembley Stadium?
A: I think it's going to be awesome. There is just a lot history in that stadium. I'm very excited about it. I think the game is sold out. I'm hoping the crowd is electric and that everybody is excited about it.
Q: How’s the (Kia) Soul car rolling?
A: It's doing good. I'm getting great gas mileage. I enjoy it. It's very spacious. I know it doesn't look like it.
