Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre will speak to the Eagles at their team meeting on Saturday before Super Bowl LII, Philadelphia coach Doug Pederson confirmed on Wednesday.
Pederson was Favre’s backup in Green Bay for eight seasons and invited him to speak to the team when he found out that he’d be in town for another engagement.
The Eagles play the Patriots on Sunday for the NFL championship.
Favre, who was originally drafted by the Falcons, went 1-1 in Super Bowl appearances with the Packers, beating the Patriots 35-21 after the 1996 season and losing to the Broncos 31-24 the following season. Pederson backed up Favre on both teams.
“He’s just going to go over how he felt as a player at that time and what he thinks,” Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said. “He’s probably going to tell us not to make this bigger than it should be.”
Pederson had former NBA great Kobe Bryant speak to the team when they played in Los Angeles during the regular season.
The Eagles are looking forward to hearing from Favre.
“We’ll be able to relate to everything that he’s talking about as a person and a player,” Graham said. “All he can do is build our confidence to let us know that we can go out there and do it.”
