The Atlanta Falcons and cornerback Desmond Trufant and agreed to a 5-year, $69 million contract on Saturday which caused the Falcons to take to social media and congratulate the All-Pro cornerback.

Trufant— who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in November— took to social media to thank the Falcons, coach Dan Quinn and all those who supported him throughout his career. Trufant accounted for 31 combined tackles, two sacks and one interception in the 2016 season.

Cornerback Robert Alford, who signed a contract extension of his own in December, was one of several teammates to tweet a message of support to Trufant.

Falcons reporter D. Orlando Ledbetter's interview with Trufant can be read on the AJC.com. An interview with Trufant about his contract extension can be seen on the Falcons' website.
