What might have turned into one of the more dominant defensive lines in the NFL will never get a chance to showcase its skills. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Michael Bennett was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, two days after he was reportedly in trade talks with the Atlanta Falcons.
Bennett had the opportunity to provide leadership to a young Falcons defensive line if he was traded there. Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett had one of his best seasons in 2017, rookie Takk McKinley showed flashes of raw talent and Vic Beasley Jr. is moving back to defensive end full-time next season.
Falcons fans were disappointed when they found out they wouldn’t see these four players lining up together in 2018.
