Dream coach undergoes surgery for tongue cancer

Atlanta Dream head coach Michael Cooper underwent a successful surgical procedure for tongue cancer on Thursday at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory Hospital in Atlanta, the team announced Friday.

The doctors expect the two-time WNBA championship coach to make a full recovery. He is expected to miss at least two weeks.

Cooper is in his first season with the Dream.

Before is procedure, Cooper’s Dream were 15-6 and in first place in the Eastern Conference with a dozen games left remaining.
