Two Georgia players underwent surgeries for wrist injuries on Tuesday.
Sophomore Ryne Rankin, a backup linebacker from Orlando, suffered a fracture in his left wrist in the Auburn game. He had the injury surgically repaired Tuesday and is expected to return and play in a cast in the season finale against Georgia Tech.
Receiver Michael Erdman had a wrist dislocation in the win over Auburn and also underwent surgery on Tuesday. However, the senior walkon from Merrit Island, Fla., is expected to be out the rest of the season.
Rankin is a standout player on Georgia’s special teams and has played in all 10 games this season. He has six tackles so far this year. It was Rankin who was called for holding on Todd Gurley’s 104-yard kick return in the first quarter against Auburn this past Saturday.
Erdman had also played in all 10 of Georgia’s games both as a receiver and on special teams. He caught one pass for four yards against Troy and will finish his career with four receptions for 32 yards.
