Georgia Tech has set its non-conference schedule for coach Josh Pastner’s first season. The 12 games before the ACC season include three against power-conference teams.

The highlights include the annual matchup with Georgia, on Dec. 20 at McCamish Pavilion. The Yellow Jackets also play Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in State College, Pa., on Nov. 29 and go to Knoxville, Tenn., to play Tennessee on Dec. 3. The game with the Volunteers is part of a four-game series that began last season.

Tech also plays VCU in Richmond, Va., on Dec. 7, ending a home-and-home series. VCU is one of two non-conference opponents that played in the NCAA tournament last year. The other is Southern, which was the Southwestern Athletic Conference champion. One opponent played in the NIT, Georgia.

Tech will open the season at home against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 11, a Friday.

Tech will not play in any sort of neutral-site tournament, often played over Thanksgiving week, for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Nine of the 12 games will be at home.

The ACC schedule is expected to be announced in late August.
