About Maryland
Record: 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the ACC.
Last time played: Tech fell to the Terrapins 28-26 in College Park in 2007, coach Chan Gailey's final season. The Yellow Jackets allowed pass plays of 78, 47 and 44 yards and kicker Travis Bell missed a last-minute 52-yard field goal try in the loss, which dropped Tech to 3-3.
Maryland on offense: The Terrapins average 24.5 points per game and 5.4 yards per play, both, 11th in the ACC. Quarterback Danny O'Brien, last year's ACC rookie of the year, has struggled at times, including a three-interception game against West Virginia. Running back Davin Meggett averages 5 yards per carry and also can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Maryland on defense: The Terrapins have not had much success stopping anyone. They are last in total defense in the ACC, ninth in scoring and last in third-down conversion rate. They have, however, forced 3turnovers per game, highest in the league. Maryland gave up 225 yards in the first half against Towson last Saturday.
Maryland on special teams: A freshman All-America two years ago, Nick Ferrara handles kickoffs, field goals and punts for the Terrapins. Maryland's punt net of 40yards is tied for first in the ACC. Ferrara has missed his last two field-goal tries after making five of his first six this season.
What you should know: After losing to Temple 38-7 and needing a strong second-half to take care of Towson on Saturday, the Terrapins will play Tech, Clemson and Florida State in successive weeks.
