Georgia Tech point guard Josh Heath, the team’s presumed starter, will miss the first four games of the regular season because of a violation of team rules.
Heath will sit out games against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 11, Southern on Nov. 14, Ohio on Nov. 18 and Sam Houston State on Nov. 22. He will be eligible to return for the game against Tulane on Nov. 26.
Heath, a senior, also didn’t participate in Saturday’s victory over Mississippi State in Birmingham, and will also miss next week’s exhibition game against Shorter at McCamish Pavilion.
Heath started 21 games last season with 95 assists and 30 turnovers. He transferred to Tech from South Florida before the 2014-15 season.
Corey Heyward, a redshirt senior, and Justin Moore, a freshman, are the other point guards on Josh Pastner’s roster.
