Even before 3-star cornerback Jaytlin Askew officially visited Georgia Tech on Friday, Tech already felt like home.

The senior from Douglasville, Ga. has been to Tech’s campus many times and is ready to move in when he enrolls in school in January.

“I literally (live) 15 to 20 minutes from there, but the trip was different because this was the first time I got to be around all the coaches without them having to focus on a game that same day,” Askew said. “They had all their attention on us and really made it their goal to make the weekend a great time. Every time I go to Tech, it always proves to be the best decision I’ve ever made. Atlanta and Georgia Tech are home to me.”

The 5-foot-9, 170 pound cornerback from McEachern High School visited his new home with four other 2017 commits and future teammates including punter Pressley Harvin, cornerback Gentry Bonds, and offensive lineman Connor Hansen and Michael Minihan.

Minihan posted a photo on Twitter of the five future teammates at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday.

“It was great to be with the other recruits, but it wasn’t a big difference,” Askew said. “We’ve all became close and grew into a tight family, so just seeing them there was a great thing and we just had lots of fun on our visit.”

Askew verbally committed in June and chose Tech over Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and eight other offers.

Askew’s favorite part of what might be his final official visit to Tech was sharing a meal with his future teammates and coaches.

“I love to eat and Coach (Paul) Johnson was there with us sitting at the table as humble as possible and really being a great person to us and our families,” Askew said. “That’s something I really appreciated.”
