Georgia Tech has earned the regard of the College Football Playoff selection committee, receiving the No. 24 spot in the rankings released Tuesday night. It is Tech’s first appearance in the committee’s rankings, following the debut list last Tuesday.

Tech is the fourth-ranked ACC team, following No. 2 Florida State, No. 21 Clemson and No. 22 Duke. The Jackets are fourth among “others receiving votes” in the Associated Press top 25 and third in the USA Today coaches poll.

In 2011, Tech was in the BCS rankings’ top 25 four different weeks, reaching as high as No. 21.
