Former Georgia Tech running back Synjyn Days had hoped to impress NFL scouts at the team’s pro day Friday with a 40-yard dash below 4.5 seconds. Depending on who was timing him, he may have made it. Regardless, Days said he got scouts’ attention, which was what mattered.
“I’ve had some contact with a few teams over there,” Days said following his workout at the Brock indoor facility. “Definitely some good feedback. Said they’ll give me a call within the next couple of days, so hopefully I do get a call.”
The time given to the school was 4.51, although Days said he was told some scouts timed him as low as mid-4.4. At 221 pounds, Days had said previously that he wanted to run below 4.5 seconds. At 230 pounds at last year's pro day, he ran 4.61 seconds. After last year's draft, he was signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent but was released shortly after. He has been training while working part-time since then in preparation for Friday's pro day. Having been through the draft process already, he is eligible to sign with a team immediately.
Seeing former teammates such as Zach Laskey, Shaquille Mason, Isaiah Johnson, Darren Waller, DeAndre Smelter and Quayshawn Nealy all get into the NFL last year either on active rosters or practice squads gives Days hope.
“Seeing them have the success they’ve been having is definitely a positive outlook from my perspective, knowing that I know I’m capable of playing in the NFL,” he said.
