Georgia Tech A-back Broderick Snoddy, who suffered a grisly broken leg last November, is nearing a return to full health.

“He should be cleared now,” coach Paul Johnson said following Monday’s spring-practice session, the 13th of 15. “No use to clearing him for Friday, but it’s been five months.”

Snoddy broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Clemson Nov. 15 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Surgery shortly after the injury began a grueling rehabilitation process. Johnson said that Snoddy has been taking part in non-contact portions of practice. The decision on clearing him will be up to the team’s medical staff.

His absence in spring practice has provided more repetitions for other A-backs, namely redshirt freshmen Qua Searcy and Clinton Lynch. Johnson said that the two “have done some good things.” Johnson further assessed Dennis Andrews as “rusty” and that Isiah Willis “knows where to go.”

“So we’ve got to get better, just like everywhere else,” Johnson said. “That position’s got to get better.”

The group will receive up to five freshmen this summer.

Said Johnson, “Some of them are going to have to play.”
