Former Georgia Tech B-back David Sims has received an offer to try out with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at their rookie minicamp that begins Friday. It is different than signing as an undrafted free agent, in which players are given NFL contracts. Sims, a three-year starter who ran for 2,252 yards in his career, will be competing with other tryout players for a contract offer.
Former Tech A-back Orwin Smith also tried out with Tampa Bay last year before being signed to the Green Bay Packers practice squad. He was signed to the offseason roster after the season.
Sims will be there with former Tech defensive tackle Euclid Cummings, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent.
