Georgia State could has several players who could be selected in today’s late rounds of the NFL draft, or sign with teams as undrafted rookie free agents.
Heading that list is quarterback Nick Arbuckle. The Sun Belt Conference player of the year passed for more than 4,300 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He helped the Panthers to their first bowl game. Arbuckle is excellent at diagnosing defenses and short to medium throws. He may not be receiving more consideration because of his height (6-foot-1) and lack of experience at the position, two years at a junior college and two at Georgia State.
Linebacker Joseph Peterson led the Panthers in tackles each of four years, finishing with 381. He is also good at recognizing offenses and was a three-time all-conference selection. He may not be receiving more consideration because of his size, 6-feet, 225 pounds.
Wide receiver Donovan Harden is a two-time all-conference performer who had 99 receptions for 1,610 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons. He can also returns punts and kicks, totalling 3,010 all-purpose yards in 22 games. Marks against him are size (5-foot-11, 175 pounds).
Safety Tarris Batiste was a three-year starter who was named all-conference as a senior. He finished with 263 tackles and five interceptions.
Kicker Wil Lutz was named all-conference last season after also punting for the Panthers. He averaged 44.3 yards on 65 punts and hit 12-of-19 field goals.
Tight end Joel Ruiz has the size, speed and hands but didn’t get to play much last year because of an injury. He says he has fully recovered. He had 43 receptions for 516 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games.
Offensive lineman Taylor Evans, linebacker Melvin King and offensive lineman Taylor Evans have also participated in camps and work outs.
