Mark Richt has informed Georgia he will not coach the Bulldogs in a bowl game, the university announced Thursday.

Athletics director Greg McGarity has named assistant head coach Bryan McClendon, who also coaches wide receivers, as the interim head coach. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt will maintain their current responsibilities until then.

"I've asked Bryan to assume all administrative duties of the head coach," said McGarity. in a statement ."This will be the least disruptive option for our players and staff as they begin preparations for our bowl game."

Georgia finished the season 9-3 - third in the SEC East - under Richt, who was dismissed Sunday. Richt will officially be introduced as the new head coach at the Univesity of Miami on Friday.

He said goodbye to his former UGA players Thursday in what was described as an emotion meeting. Click here to read more about the meeting on Dawgnation.com.
